Modify Wall

Used to modify the height and width of a wall form, and to extend a form.

Accessed from:

  • Ribbon: AECOsim > Modify > Modify > Break > Modify Wall
  • Ribbon: Modeling > Forms > Modify Forms > Break > Modify Wall

Tip: Click on the specific modify tool icon to select the type of form modification, or press the spacebar to toggle between modification types, or use the following keyboard accelerators:
  • < H> - Modify Form Height
  • < B> - Modify Form Base Height
  • < T> - Modify Form Width
  • < E> - Extend Linear Form
SettingDescription
(Modify Form Height) Method
  • Add Distance — Extends the form by the Height setting when the mode is Absolute; extends the form by the Distance setting when the mode is Relative; extends the form by a data point when the mode is By Point.

Settings enabled with Add Distance method:

    • Height — Enabled with Absolute mode, sets the value for Absolute form height, measured from the form's baseline.
    • Distance — Enabled with Relative mode, sets the value that is added to or subtracted from the current form height.
    • Roof Tolerance — Enabled with To Shape method, sets the tolerance between the top of the wall and the curve of the roof.
    • Delete Constructions — Enabled with To Shape method, the shape or form against which the form is extruded is deleted from the model when on.
  • To Imaginary Line — Extends the form to an imaginary plane defined by 2 data points.
  • To Form or Shape — Extends a linear form to a selected shape or form.
  • To Plane (3 Pts) — extends the form to a plane defined by 3 data points.
Mode
  • Absolute — Modifies the form height to match the Height setting, measured from the form baseline. The form height is modified above the bottom face of the form with a positive value. The form height is modified below the bottom face of the form with a negative value.
  • Relative — Modifies the form height to match the Distance setting, relative to the existing form height. A positive value increases form height and a negative value decreases form height.
  • By Point — Modifies the form height to a data point entry.
(Modify Form Base Height) Moves the base plane of a linear form by the Distance setting or by a point placed manually.

Method

  • Add Distance — Modifies the base height of the form by data points placed manually or by the Distance field setting.

Settings enabled with Add Distance method:

    • Distance — Controls how far the base plane of a form is moved when on. A positive value moves the base plane toward the top plane (up). A negative value moves the base plane away from the top plane (down).
  • To Imaginary Line — Modifies the base height of the form to an imaginary plane defined by 2 data points.
  • To Form or Shape — Modifies the base height of the form to a selected shape.
  • To Plane (3 Pts) — Modifies the base height of the form to a plane defined by 3 data points.
(Modify Form Width) Changes the width of a linear form. The new width is modified relative to the placement of the form. Form width is modified on the left side with a data point to the left of the form; form width is modified on the right side with a data point to the right of the form; form width is modified equally left and right with a data point in the center of the form.
  • Mode
    • Absolute — The form width is modified by the Thickness setting.
    • Relative — The form width is modified by the Thickness setting, relative to existing form width.
    • By Point — The form width is modified by a data point.
  • Thickness — Enabled with the Absolute mode, sets the total (absolute) form width.
  • Distance — Enabled with the Relative mode, sets the form width to equal the sum of the existing width plus Thickness setting.
  • Imply Relationships — Maintains connection relationships with other forms when form width is modified.
(Extend Linear Form) Extends the length of a linear form relative to its baseline. The form can only extend along the plane of orientation, which is determined when the form is originally placed.
  • Method
    • Add Distance — extends the form by data points placed manually or by the Distance setting.

Settings enabled with Add Distance method:

      • Distance — Enabled with Add Distance method, sets the value that a form is extended when on. A positive value lengthens the form, a negative value shortens the form.
    • To Imaginary Line — extends the form to an imaginary plane defined by 2 data points.
    • To Shape — extends a linear form to a selected shape.
    • To Plane (3 Pts) — extends the form to a plane defined by 3 data points.
  • Add Form — The extension modification is created as an additional form when on.
